As we approach the 40th anniversary of our magazine I want to acknowledge all the long time supporters of our publication. You are amazing.
It's also a great time to celebrate the new and emerging talent out there. One of my favorites is Noa Beck, a friend who has been modeling for my workshops for several years and just last year took up photography herself. Unlike others who give up modeling when they discover their artistic voice, Noa continues to model and also puts herself in her images, along with friends, enacting emotional scenes.
Being on the other side of the lens and directing others has made her very aware of the power dynamic in play between models and photographers. She speaks to that sometimes difficult balance eloquently. Her work is strong, dark, resonant and often powerful. ■
